WELCOME TO THE HAIDA CHILD & FAMILY SERVICES SOCIETY
We are embarking on a journey that will lead us to self-governing our own Child Welfare System. We are calling this journey: “A New Direction”, “K’yuu Gawtlaas”. We have given the “New Direction” a nickname within our offices, coining it the “New Old Direction” because we are instilling Haida values into our practice. In the past, Haida values and cultural appropriateness were lacking from practice. We will be building a new, traditional model of child welfare that exemplifies the traditional Haida way of life. This “New Direction” will enrich the lives of children and families in our Haida Gwaii communities.
